about

The tale of the witch Matinta Perera originates in the northern region of Brazil. The legend says that Matinta turns into a black bird, and goes out at night whistling and asking for tobacco, coffee and fish for the residents of the region. The whistle is so uncomfortable that it makes the inhabitants commit to delivering the offering. The next night, Matinta returns to collect what was promised. If the offer is denied, disaster strikes the home of the person who made the broken promise.
"Rise Of Matinta Perera" is one of the tracks on the EP "Tale of The Black Forest", and perhaps it is the track that most enabled artistic co-operations. The song starts with the actress Malu Paixão reciting the prologue written by Iasmin Oliveira. The composition moves with constant tension, as if the witch Matinta Perera was getting closer and closer. The recording featured Alex Campelo (piano), Gustavo Costa (bass and vibra-slap), Vinícius Fernandes (Drums).
